Aeschynanthus are found throughout warm the humid forests of Asia these plants are epiphytes in their natural environment, which means that they grow on the surface of other plants typically large trees and draw their water and nutrients from rain, the air, or any debris in the area. With over 150 species this genus has a wide variety of features but are always trailing or climbing plants and typically produce red tube-shaped flowers that give them the nickname Lipstick Plant.

Light requirements
Aeschynanthus marmoratus prefers bright indirect light.
Watering requirements
Keep the top of the soil slightly damp through Spring and Summer, increase time between watering slightly through summer months.
Humidity requirements
Aeschynanthus require high humidity and warm spot free from draughts. Either place in a bathroom or kitchen or mist regularly to make sure it stays healthy.
Growth
The Basket Vine reaches lengths of up to 0.5-1m but is a slow grower.

Originally native to Malaysia.
Flowering
Flowers in Summer months and produces distinctive Orange-Red flowers. Cut away fading flowers to encourage new growth.

Aeschynanthus marmoratus has trailing variegated green foliage with purple undersides.
