Pieris japonica 'Mountain Fire' is another cultivar of the Japanese Andromeda plant. Like the 'Forest Flame', 'Mountain Fire' is a popular ornamental shrub that is grown for its attractive foliage and showy drooping clusters of white flowers. This particular cultivar is known for its vibrant red new growth and its dark green leaves. It also prefers partial shade, and well-drained acidic soil. In the spring, it is covered with clusters of pink-tinged white flowers that contrast beautifully against the dark red new leaves. The older leaves turn dark green. With its evergreen foliage, it's a great landscape addition year round.
