Eucalyptus gunnii, also known as Cider Gum or Gunn’s Eucalyptus, is a species of evergreen tree or large shrub in the Myrtaceae family, native to Tasmania, Australia. It is known for its fast growth rate and distinctive blue-gray foliage. The leaves are elliptical in shape and can grow up to 8 cm long. The tree can reach a height of 30 meters and a width of 15 meters at maturity. It prefers well-drained soils and full sun to partial shade, it is hardy and can tolerate frost. Eucalyptus gunnii is commonly used as an ornamental tree in gardens, parks, and as a windbreak. It’s also used as a timber tree and for the production of essential oils. It’s not native to the UK, but it can be grown in the UK as an ornamental tree in the milder parts of the country and it’s often grown in container.
