Description

Dryopteris wallichiana, commonly known as Wallich’s wood fern, is a tall, evergreen fern native to the Himalayas and other mountainous regions of Asia. It has long, arching fronds that can reach up to 1.5m in length, making it a dramatic addition to a shady garden or woodland setting. The fronds are a vibrant green color and are delicately textured with finely divided leaflets. This fern prefers a moist, well-drained soil and will thrive in a partially shaded location. It pairs well with other woodland plants such as hostas, hellebores, and bleeding hearts, as well as with ferns like the Athyrium niponicum ‘Pictum’ and Polystichum setiferum. The striking form and texture of Dryopteris wallichiana make it an excellent choice for adding interest and depth to a garden.
