David Austin Roses ‘Gentle Hermione’: A picturesque English rose variety that boasts large, shallow cups of light pink color that gradually fade to a soft blush on the outer petals. The blooms release a strong, warm myrrh scent and form an attractive, broad shrub with slightly curved stems. The leaves of the plant start off with a red tinge and eventually turn green. It grows to a mature height of around 4ft (125cm) and width of 4.5ft (140cm). This repeat-blooming shrub rose was first introduced in 2005 by David Austin and is suitable for mixed borders, bee-attracting gardens, cutting gardens, wild areas and adapts well to all soil types and full sunlight. It is named after Hermione, the devoted wife of Leontes, the King of Sicilia, from Shakespeare’s play The Winter’s Tale.
