David Austin Roses ‘Lichfield Angel’: An enchanting English rose variety characterized by its large, cream-colored blooms that emit a light musk fragrance. The blooms have a cupped rosette shape, with an outer ring of waxy petals surrounding a center of smaller petals. As the blooms mature, the petals curl back to form a large, dome-shaped flower. The plant has a vigorous, rounded growth habit, and is almost thornless. The blooms are held on attractive nodding branches. It reaches a height and width of around 4.5ft (140cm) at maturity. This repeat-blooming shrub rose was introduced by David Austin in 2006 and is suitable for mixed borders, container gardening, rose hedges, shady areas, gardens with few thorns, cutting gardens, and adapts well to all soil types and full or partial sunlight. The variety is named after an 8th century limestone panel discovered in Lichfield Cathedral, Staffordshire, during an archaeological excavation of the nave, which is believed to depict the Archangel Gabriel.
