Description

Abelia genus. They are a former genus of shrubs that are now widely included within the genus Linnaea and are members of the honeysuckle family. Grown for their long lasting flowers that are produced from early Summer through to early Autumn. There are also cultivars that often beautiful Autumn foliage in shades of gold, bronze and cream.

Abelia x grandiflora ‘Sherwoodii’ prefers moist but well-draining soil. This plant can grow in soil with a wide range of pH levels, it is not picky about the pH level of the soil.

Best Position

Abelia x grandiflora ‘Sherwoodii’ prefers a sheltered position and requires full sun to thrive, this consists of more than six hours of direct sunshine per day.

Maintenance

Abelia x grandiflora ‘Sherwoodii’ can tolerate heavy pruning in early Spring with up to a third of growth which will encourage fresh growth and a more vigourous display in the Summer but equally will be fine left to it’s own devices with just the occasional trimming as required.
