Description
Amelanchier lamarckii, also known as Juneberry or Serviceberry, is a deciduous tree or large shrub that is valued for its attractive spring flowers, ornamental berries, and fall foliage. The tree features oval-shaped leaves that emerge bronze in the spring, mature to green in the summer, and turn yellow-orange to red in the fall. In early spring, it produces clusters of white flowers that are followed by edible, sweet, red-purple berries that ripen in the summer. The berries are a favorite of birds and can also be used for making jams, jellies, pies, and wine.
