Description
Pieris japonica ‘Passion’ is a cultivar of the Japanese Pieris, a popular evergreen shrub in the Ericaceae family. It is known for its beautiful foliage and striking, drooping clusters of pink flowers that bloom in early spring, before the leaves appear. The leaves are glossy and dark green, and the new growth is red. It is native to Japan, China and Taiwan and is commonly used as an ornamental plant in gardens, landscapes and as a specimen plant. It prefers cool, moist, and well-drained soil and partial shade. It can tolerate some sun but it will do best with some protection from direct hot sun. It is easy to grow and care for, and it can be propagated by taking semi-ripe cuttings in the summer.
