Description

Sorbaria sorbifolia ‘Sem’ is a deciduous shrub with an upright, spreading habit, growing up to 1.5m in height and spread. The delicate, bright green foliage is deeply lobed, resembling that of a Mountain Ash tree, and turns to golden-yellow in autumn. During mid-summer, the plant is adorned with large panicles of creamy white flowers, which create an eye-catching contrast against the foliage. These flowers are followed by reddish-brown fruit capsules that persist through the autumn months, adding interest to the plant. Sorbaria sorbifolia ‘Sem’ is best planted in full sun or partial shade, in moist, well-drained soil. It makes an excellent specimen plant in a mixed border or as a backdrop to other plants, such as Hydrangeas, Astilbes, or ornamental grasses.
