Vaccinium ‘Chandler’ is a high-yielding and vigorous blueberry plant that produces large and flavorful berries with a sweet taste. This deciduous shrub has an upright growth habit and can reach a height and spread of up to 1.2m. The foliage is a deep green color and turns a vibrant red in the fall. ‘Chandler’ blooms in spring, producing white or pink bell-shaped flowers that give way to plump blueberries in early summer. The fruit has a firm texture and is excellent for eating fresh, baking, or preserving. ‘Chandler’ performs best in well-draining soil with a pH between 4.5-5.5 and prefers full sun to partial shade. Soil Requirements

Vaccinium ‘Chandler’ prefers moist but well-draining soil. This plant requires acidic soil to thrive and cannot grow in neutral or alkaline soil conditions.

Best Position

Vaccinium ‘Chandler’ prefers a sheltered position and can cope with either full sun or partial shade.


Vaccinium ‘Chandler’ should be pruned regularly as it is important for maintaining a healthy and productive plant. It should be done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Remove any dead, diseased or damaged wood, suckers, crossing or rubbing branches, water sprouts, stool shoots, and canes that are more than 3 years old. If you want to rejuvenate an older plant, remove 1/3 of the oldest canes at the base of the plant.
